Hello!
So my mum has ordered an Advent notebook, running Windows XP. I was wondering which would be the best firewall to use.
I have one spare install of Bulldog and Norton 2007, but as the netbook isn’t that powerful (1.6Ghz Atom processor, 1GB RAM) we might be needing a less power-demanding firewall.
Any suggestions on what to use? Preferably free ones but we’re willing to pay.
Thanks in advance.

Zonealarm is a good firewall.
AVG is good for Anti virus.
Recommend spybot for Antispyware.
All free.

i think AVG is good enough all round, and free
get rid of Norton and be careful when downloadind adobe flash as it can add a norton security scan without you noticing at times

Zone Alarm is fairly good & many folks like it. One issue is that it does some unknown (to the community) ‘call back’ to the ZA company, and that has some concern
Another is Comodo, which is geared for the propeller heads; very good at stopping & asking about everything that wants in/out of your system, but it tends to get a bit naggy.
If you’re not a overly geeky type who just wants basic frontline defense, without a lot of details thrown in, try Zone Alarm.
Both freeware, Google for sites.

AVG is a free one,
But for peace of mind i use McAfee.
I prefer this over Norton.
