I just bought an Acer Aspire One netbook for $298 with a 120GB HDD running Windows XP Home, it will handle watching videos fine. Of course you will have to connect an external DVD drive for watching dvd's. A very nice netbook for the money IMO. Check out Youtube for demos. I don't think any of the ten inch ones are currently available for 300 but if you wait a while they will drop down in price.
