if just linux will be user friendly, i mean, like windows or macs, when gives you setups in installs and all so easy. but linux: you must know lot some codes and many more codes… its just, to install some driver or dock, its inpossible for normal user. if they just will be easy, then linux will best OS, and all will use it.
February 4, 2010 1:06 am | #1Hey. Ubuntu is helping Linux on the desktop make huge strides towards mass appeal. On this netbook, installing Ubuntu 9.10 only took a couple of technical requirements.1.) Moving the Ubuntu installation over to a USB drive. This is not the fault of Ubuntu, since the netbook simply does not have an optical drive. With a USB optical drive you can use the original install media.2.) Selecting the correct wireless driver. This may be beyond “grandma and grandpa” but it wasn’t too difficult.

Go buy an mp3 player at walmart… unless its an ipod good luck getting it to work on ur macand honestly I like win xp but I wouldn’t call it user friendly, I just know how to tame the beast
February 4, 2010 3:16 am | #4@pspheaven ok, you right about easy thing. i have used ubuntu carmic for a month, then used linux mint (i liked mint more, cause its have more features allredy installed, like all codecs. But i stoped using linux and get back to windows cause: linux just cant give me clear nice sound. i mean, im searching for sound filters, 3D sound, i like to have clear sound filter wich one stands in drivers, not in some player. So linux cant give me this feature yet… :/

February 4, 2010 5:19 am | #7did wifi work out of the box? i have an s10e with Ubuntu 9.04did you have any probs? does compiz work with this remix?sorry for all the questions.cheers.
February 4, 2010 5:27 am | #8Hey. Thanks for the questions.I had to install b43-fwcutter (available in synaptic) for wifi to work, but after that it worked fine with no further configuration.Compiz still has problems with netbook-launcher unfortunately. If you switch desktop modes it works just fine but you have to remember to turn it off before going back to netbook mode. I don’t know if there are any plans to fix this or not.I use this netbook daily and update it daily with dist-upgrade and it works just fine.
