So i’m getting a new laptop but idk which one to get. i was thinking of a netbook but dont u have to pay monthly? i want it to be somewhat small (my other one was HUGE) and not too thin. that’s all i can think of thanks if u can help!!!

I need something with more then 2 gigs of ram, is lightweight, and has 12 – 14″ screen that is wide screen format and high resolution. 6lbs or under is what I am looking at. Not really looking at getting a netbook or a thin and light though .. just a regular laptop for school use. I do btw, need something with a very lightweight power supply, that is extremely important!!

I would like to purchase a laptop primarily to travel with so I am looking for something small, light and with decent battery life.
I mostly just use internet so it must have a wireless card but doesn’t need a great processor for any heavy applications (only Word and Excel).
DVD drive would be nice but I can do without it if it makes the computer that much thinner, smaller, lighter, etc.
I live in SoCal so I do have Fry’s around me in case they have the model you suggest.
Are there any new devices that fall between a laptop/notebook and a PDA but still have a full keyboard?
I know this question should not be listed under golf but I do not believe that I can change it. If I can please explain how.
No offense but if you don’t know where to buy a laptop under $800, then I am not interested in your answers. I am looking for advice from savy shoppers.

I’m not a PC expert, so I’m looking for help with this one. I can find a lot of the PC’s online in my pricerange, but often see bad reviews that make me nervous.
Here is what I am looking for:
– The main use of the PC will be to write with, so I don’t need the latest processor speed or anything. That said, I would also like it to be able to run some programs, surf the web and stream video, or run multiple applications (such as having a few web pages and few Word docs open at once with no problem)
- Would like something on the smaller end. – I know I don’t want one of the 10.1″ netbooks, because the keyboards are too small to type with and fit my wrists on. I would like a full size keyboard, and a screen probably no smaller than 12-13 inches.
- But when you start to get over 14 inches in the screen size, weight seems to become a concern.I want something thin and light enough to be able to carry around in a backpack.
- Extended battery life. I would like something with a long battery life, as I will likely use it on the go a lot for extended periods while not near an outlet.
Thats about it, got any suggestions?

The lcd screen on my laptop has small thin lines on one side(very faint), can this be repaired under warranty?

I dropped it yesterday and now I noticed small off color lines on it today. I used it for hours today and now I noticed it so they must have just appeared. I believe they also got slightly longer..Its only two months old and is in mint condition otherwise, will they fix it under warranty?
I’d like to know if there is a way for them to be certain that the cause of the abnormality is because of a drop…If they cannot then I shouldn’t have a problem.
Like I said its in mint condition, I can’t find any scratches..It still has the clear sticker covering the back. Regardless I will call Best Buy and the manufacturer tomorrow. MSI

I have a compaq R4000 notebook that is very bulky and not very practical. I am looking for a new notbook that has all of the capabilities of a dektop computer, but with the ease of travel and lightweight compatibility for a cheap price. Around $500-$600.
