I am planning on getting a Sony Vaio laptop for school this Christmas. I am a Freshman, and will list the pros and cons of each.

Sony SR: 1 and a half pound lighter; 2 hours more battery life; thinner
Sony CS: Comes in red; screen is bigger; $70 cheaper

Which should I buy? (Note: both laptops have the same potential specs [up to 2.8 ghz, up to 320gb and 4gb of RAM] )

I’m really looking to purchase a thin computer (like the MacBook Air), and am wondering if anyone knows just how thick this notebook computer is.
I’ve noticed that the screen dimension is 15.4″ but they don’t describe the thickness on the website.

Yes, I realize that sony has a really bad support system, and for thin, Mac might be ahead, but I simply just can’t live with the Mac environment.

Should i get the sony vaio aw or the dell adamo?

I like both for different reasons. the dell adamo has a 13.4 inch screen and is very thin with alot of ports compared to the macbook air. the vaio aw has a 18.4 inch screen but its alot thicker and heavier. there both about the same price so im not sure if i should get the thinnest and one of the lightest laptops or a laptop with a huge screen but is heavier and bigger.

I am looking to purchase a small light weight notebook that is fast and easy to use. I do a lot of internet research and typing up reports on wordpad. Speed and size is very important. Apple Macbook or Sony Vaio what to get for college?

Im an upcoming college student this school year 2009-2010,
and I can’t decide on what laptop to get!
I like apple because my friends told me that macbook is great, has a great OS, thin and light and my campus will have an apple store inside it:)

Sony Vaio because of it’s good reputation here in the Philippines.high battery life and it’s style:) (if i’ll get a vaio i’ll get a pink CS one)

“Light-n-Thin” laptop: Dell XPS 1330 and SONY VAIO CR290–which to choose?

I want to get a thin-and-light laptop. REQUIRE: light weight, Centrino or equivalent (for longer battery hrs), at least 2G RAM (to run Vista efficiently), and a build-in web cam. After researching on line and limited by the budget, my two finalists are Dell XPS 1330 and SONY VAIO CR290. With the customized built, the hardware (i.e. processor, RAM, hard dive etc) can be the same. But I still don’t know what to choose.

Dell XPS 1330:
**PROs: only 4 lbs, good reviews, prompt on-line customer services
**CONs: Some reviews noted cosmetic design fell out or slide out, slightly more expansive, history of problematic products.

SONY VAIO CR290
**PROs: $150 cheaper, Sony.com offers “trade-in, the fan didn’t get overheated easily, can play DVDs without being in computer mode.
**CONs: 1.5 lb heavier (wt 5.5lbs), customer services are turned off. Limited reviews on-line.

Any experiences or comments on these two laptops? What would you suggest to purchase?
