I’m looking for a $500 to $600 laptop now and it’s been suggested to me that I get one with a Core i3 processor, one of the newest releases from Intel. I guess getting the latest is always the smart buy when it comes to gadgets, but I’ve also been seeing a lot of new laptops with these Intel Ultra Low Voltage processors. They promise looong battery life, which I don’t think I need anyway, but these are the processors on all the slim, ultralight laptops, a feature that all my traveling calls for.
So my question is, are these Intel ULV processors any good? I don’t know if I should be concerned about the 1.3 GHz speed, considering that the latest laptops now are 2 GHz or higher. Also, the same amount of money can buy me a laptop with an Intel Core i3 processor OR an ultralight laptop with the Intel 1.3 GHz Ultra Low Voltage processor.
Basically, I don’t know if it’s worth sacrificing the processor for portability and vice versa. I use a laptop for web surfing, word processing, watching movies, listening to music, some photoshop work, and some video editing.
