Are Laptops able to connect to a Wireless router using a USB Adapter? ?
I am planning on buying a new Toshiba laptop and I am going to get a BT wireless router.
When I was on the BT Shop web site I looked at USB Adapters, but at the side I saw a Tab that said “Laptop Cards”, which is a thin, wide card that goes in to the side of your Laptop.
Can you only use these to connect to a Wireless router or can you use a USB Adapter to connect? Please Help.
Ok, Thanks.

Recommended Laptops?
What brand/model of laptop would you recommend? I mainly would use it for graphic design (with photoshop and such), music, videos, and websurfing. So something with good display, speed, and control? It wouldn’t need to be very light or thin, because I don’t commute or really do anything which would require me to carry it for long distances.

I am looking for a laptop mostly used for school and email, editing pictures and I also will be downloading music on it (which i know puts me at risk for some viruses). So I’d buy the norton anti-virus for the next years(is this sufficient enough for my protection). I plan on having it for 4-5 years at least!, I plan on getting the best buy Black-tie warranty for another $180. It is on sale for $399 at best buy. Please tell me any suggestions or pointers you have! or other reccomendations. I’ve never thought as gateway as being a good brand, so i am really unsure, but i also don’t know a whole lot about computers. Is the 4gb of ram worth the extra money? or is 3gb plenty of room for me, and my computer still not be slow?
Thank you =]
What can I do to save money on my light bill? We have laptops, tvs in every room, night lights, oven light is
on all night because my son sleep walks. Usually only two tv’s is on almost all day. Pleasse help us conserve. Thanks
Are Acer laptops any good?
Don’t bother recommending me any other brands.
Specifically I am speaking of this one… http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku.jsp?productId=prod2850395
It has pretty decent specs for that price. Only thing is I don’t really know much about the reliability of Acers. I’ve looked at it in person for a bit and the only complaint I had was that they keys were the thin, plastic kind.
Do Toshiba laptops usually have internal video adapter not part of mainboard?
I have a Toshiba laptop, does Toshiba have laptops with the internal video adapter not part of the mainboard?
Please, I need to know. I have some thin columns which appear in time on the screen. I understand the video board can’t be replaced if it is part of the mainboard.
What is stopping POP3 access when these laptops connect to the network wirelessly?
I have two laptops that connect to the ISA 2004 protected network by use of an access point or a wireless router. The laptops have the firewall client installed and can access the network, share files, browse the net. Even when the laptops grab an IP off the router (the router is on the protected LAN) they still connect fine. The only issue is that POP3 access in not happening. Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express all fail to send or receive. Plug them in to the network with a CAT5 and the email works with no problems. I am not sure exactly what the issue is and was hoping for someone to shine some light in my direction. The wireless AP and router have been assigned a static IP since before ISA 2004 was ever installed. Email might have worked in the past but now it does not. This problem has just been brought to my attention.
The rules have been set to allow those ports access from the internal network to the external (wan). Email works if it does not cross the AP’s. ISA seems to be treating the AP’s as clients that are not authenticating possibly. But if that was the case then HTTP and HTTPS would not work.
Any good light laptops out there?
I am looking for a laptop that is less than 5 pound. It could
be 11″ or so or could be much smaller like one of
the sony model. I also need it to have a slot for the new
smaller express air card from Version. Is there anything
good out there now or coming out?
