Unfortunately, the netbook does not have the power of a PC, but are a valuable tool for engineers and managers who travel frequently for work…

I would have to disagree. I use my netbook more than my actual desktop. It opens and runs programs just as quickly as my desktop. I just hooked the netbook up to a spare monitor I had, and using syngergy, my wireless keyboard and mouse can be shared with both computers.

It boots a little bit faster when you set the overclock to 24% and then turn on turbo mode whenever you turn the netbook on (just remember it has to be plugged in to go into turbo mode).I’ve had my MSI U100 for 6 months and yet to regret the purchase. I just mapped my CD/DVD drive from my desktop to the netbook instead of buying an external drive…saved money, lol.

did you upgrade memory and hard disk? is there any serious payoff?

I did upgrade the memory. I disabled the onboard memory and put in a 2GB stick.I didn’t bother with the hard drive. 160GB is plenty enough. Plus I mapped my 1T external hard drive that’s hooked up to my PC to my netbook. So between the internal 160 and the mapped 1T, I have no need for an upgrade. The good thing about netbooks is how light weight they are. I can brows through my choir music library while holding the netbook in one hand. AND it’s easier to maneuver when traveling on a plane.

thanks. i’ve been searching for a good netnook to buy. after looking through all the specs and upgrades, it would cost me about $420 – this includes a 9cell battery
