Does it record Double Layer DVD’s? He doesn’t even tell you. Just says everything. I looked it up on Tiger Direct and yes, it does appear to support Double Layer:Super AllWrite is the new compatibility standard from Lite-On which allows the DVD writer to write to any disc media: DVD +/- R(W), DVD- RAM and Double Layer. PS I did get this to work without a problem on my XP Notebook. I’m not sure if you require both USB’s for all activities, maybe just when you burn CD’s.

If you have Windows XP, go to NewEgg(dot)com and type in the search “eTDU108-46″. Mine is shipping right now, and it looks exactly like this one, exept it works on XP.

I have a Compaq Presario dv3000 (an HP brand) and the dvd drive no longer functions correctly. This would be a much less pricey and convenient way for me to solve this. Would this work for my computer?

Yes, you need to have a USB 2.0 port.

probably yes cause those games are installed on the HDD and the dvd is only in there to avoid piracy and it almost doesnt do anything while you’re playing

What a stupid guy and a waste of time of a review, this idoit repeted so much but did not make an effort to mention if this draws power from usb, has rechargable battery, needs external power, or needs two usb cables to run abs draw power. All in all absolute RUBBISH of a review I hope he reads it and makes an effort to do a proper review next time on a different product rather then just being a parot.

This dude didn’t even talk about the fact that shit only works for Vista LOL. This does not work with XP folks. There is no XP driver, it will be a DVD player only in your XP system. Works on OSX, and Vista, Windows 7, have not tried Linux.
