Linux Netbook, How Good Are They?

I’m pretty sure im getting a computer for christmas (at least thats what i really want) and my brother in law thinks that a ‘netbook’ would be good for me, i didnt know how i felt about them at first, but now i really like it. i looked up a linux netbook and was wondering if you think they are good. if not, which type of netbook is the best?
*i only really ned it for internet, aim, photofiltre, and maybe itunes.

    Linux is great though but you really are better off with Ubuntu
    I don’t get the no CD/DVD

    Well linux is very nice because you don’t need antivirus, and it is very fast and secure. However you will not be able to use those exact applications, and whatever Linux Netbook you choose is certainly not windows. The layout is and the way you use it is different.
    For internet you would use Firefox, for aim, you can use pidgin, Photofiltre can be replaced with something like it (I have never heard of that program, so I can not say what exact one would have to replace it. Amarok or songbird can be used instead of Itunes.
    Their are thousands of free programs available for linux, but Windows apps can not run on linux, so it could take some time to understand it.
    I love Linux, that is why I use Linux mint right now.
