I’ve asked a previous question about which antivirus software to get for a netbook, and the natural question which follows it is whether its worth me dishing out more cash for the 2010 version as opposed to the cheaper 2009 versions.
Is it really a big difference, and will my netbook survive for 12 months on the 2009 version…?
Is It Significantly Worth Getting The 2010 Versions Of Antivirus Software As Opposed To The 2009 Versions?

The most important thing about anti virus software is keeping it updated with the latest virus definitions. Running anti virus software with outdated definitions is just like running NO anti virus software.
You have not specified exactly which anti virus program you are using, but generally the 2009 version should be just fine as long as you keep it updated as I stated above.
I would also recommend some sort of spyware protection as well, because most anti virus programs are not very good at spyware detection and removal.
Good Luck! Your netbook will survive if you take these simple precautions.

It’s up to you. As long as the AV will totally protect your PC you may not need the later version. You have to know whether you can get updates for the next year & the features you’ll be missing. Most websites that sell AV programs will show you the differences in versions because they want to sell the newerimproved one.
