is an HP notebook really better than a Gateway?

07 Jun

if it has the same kind of processor and memory and all that stuff? i found two similar laptops, but the HP is $200 more. one pro is that the HP is more lightweight, but that isn’t a huge issue for me. i just want the better laptop. is the HP really better than a gateway?

Absolutely. I’ve been using a Gateway laptop with 2.0GHZ Speed and 2GB RAM for quite a while, and the hard drive has failed more than twice in the past 6 months.. I have to conclude that although relatively cheap, Gateway laptops have weak hard drives.. I’d be moving large files and the computer would just stop responding, the HD light turning off. The only solution was to force reboot, and after doing that a few times, the computer wouldn’t boot into Windows anymore.

Ultimately, HP laptops may be a little more expensive, but one thing I can assure you is that they are reliable. I have a HP with only 1.4GHZ and 248MB of RAM, and it’s lasted me quite a while with no problems, even after severe virus infections.

For some really good models, take a look at the HP Pavilion range or the Compaq Presario range.
