Personally, I like Dell–they are easy to work with and customer service is great.

However, if you plan on doing a lot of editing and things with graphics people say that Macs are best for that.

dont get gateway. my family has owned 7 gateway laptops between us and have had never ending problems with each. customer service is horrible too. stick with dell or compaq. well thats from my experience. i havent tried anything else so maybe someone else will refute that.

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. The built-in webcam is high quality and there’s even a built-in microphone that has impressive quality for being built-in. I record music with it and it comes out very nicely.

MAC! I love love love mine. Best laptop in the world.
It has a webcam atatched of course with ICHAT (which is so cool) and photobooth and imovie and etc..it’s just amazing.
Plus it doesn’t even get viruses.
And i heard if you get one now you can get a free ipod touch with it.

apple is the best but-void the Dell. Their company is not honoring the warranties if something happens to them.

Apple’s MacBook has built in mic and camera above the screen, I believe this would be a good choice for you. It’s also lighter than most PC laptops, looks more aesthetically pleasing externally and the OS X Leopard Operating System looks a lot nicer than any windows machine. don’t buy vista whatever you do. Not yet. Good Luck.

PS Only downside to macbook is that they cost a bit more, but they give good student discounts like 100 dollars off and a free Touch iPod. If you weave that into the price it drops by about 400 – 500 dollars worth of incentives… they also usually will give you a free printer. Mail in rebate style on that though.

probably your best bet is any apple product. Whatever you do DONT get a DELL! iv had terrible experiences will both of mine. I actually have a Fujitsu. Its kind of an unknown brand. I think they are more know for large scale computer systems, but my laptop is great! they also have fantastic customer service. They are based in Canada.
