If you guys are impressed with this, you should see what kind of eye candy and power you get from a full desktop on a modern system running linux.

I bought an Acer Aspire One here in canada for $280USD and it came with the Atom 1.6ghz processor, 1.5GB ram, and a 160GB HD, and the first thing I ever did was install Ubuntu 8.10 on it. I absolutely love the little thing, and if you’re considering getting an Asus netbook, maybe give the Acer a look as well, theres plenty of reviews of both online.

actually, I think that there’s a distro of ubuntu designed for the eee pc! as for drivers, it is so dang easy to get them it’s pathetic. I just booted up to ubuntu for the first time about 3 months ago and one of the first things that popped up was ‘restricted nvidia drivers available’ it was so easy!

tmason, your doing to definitely love your eee pc. i got the 2gb surf a while ago, but with that 2gb i got rid of the lunix that came with it and replaced it with xubuntu (1.5gb required) giving me only 500mb but then i got an 8gb hc micro sd and a 320gb externel sata drive. so from my original 2gb surf, i now have a new OS and 328.5gb (which is 328,500mb) which is freakin amazing!anyway, your definately gonna love it. Just get creative and enjoy
